Since then, not only did I land <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epiloglaser.com\/news_epilog_challenge_winner.htm\">a laser cutter from Epilog<\/a>, but better still, a number of people have built their own scanners and made incredible improvements.<\/p>\n<p>Though <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/DIY-High-Speed-Book-Scanner-from-Trash-and-Cheap-C\/\">Instructables<\/a> has been very kind to me, it was time to lay the foundation of a new community dedicated to building book scanners and book scanning software. To that end, I created <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diybookscanner.org\">DIYBOOKSCANNER.ORG. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another scanner builder, Rob, is helping moderate the community and maintain the software.
