From The Archives: 737, The Corporation

I am a self-taught 3D modeler, and used to develop game models professionally. Perhaps the greatest skill of a game modeler at that time was to make a low-polygon model with sensible geometry. The lower the poly and texture count, the better. I needed lots of practice that wasn’t work (making games about geology), so I “founded” The Fakeproject Corporation of America and started building a fleet for it. I also developed tons of design demos for the company in various historical eras. At one point, the model/image of the 737 was my favorite visual metaphor – a holdover from my old 737 stencils from painting class in the early 2000’s. It will doubtless show up again.

I also have a Demo Reel [QT] from this era. A Demo Reel is how you sell yourself in the games/VFX industry. This is showing my modeling work and how it was accomplished via photo reference. One of these days I’ll put it on YouTube or Vimeo. Just keep in mind this was my best work… half a decade ago.
